After the game, coach Ronald Koeman spoke about Memphis, telling reporters that the 27-year-old is a continuous danger. “It’s a fantastic goal; he’s always dangerous; he’s always looking for an opportunity to score; he scored a beautiful goal; he gets another chance at 1-1, but it’s OK,” he added. I’m really pleased with the players’ mentality and the response we showed after falling down 1-0.”

The Memphis Grizzlies are unable to enjoy their first goal.
Memphis’ opening goal against Athletic may have been on target, but the Netherlands international will not be pleased. According to FC Barcelona, the former Lyon player had mixed emotions after the game.
“It’s great to score a goal, but I’m unhappy with the outcome. So there are two sides to it; I can’t truly appreciate it since we didn’t get the three points,” he said. “It was a difficult game, but scoring my first goal for the club feels great, it means a lot, and I want to contribute more.”
Barcelona already has four points from two difficult games against Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao this season. The Catalan giants now have a week off before hosting Getafe at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona is without Messi.
Memphis has been Barcelona’s primary offensive creator in the first two games of the season, despite the Catalan giants’ lack of Lionel Messi. According to Marca, Koeman discussed life without the Argentine and acknowledged that opponents had less to fear.
“I don’t enjoy talking about the same thing all the time, but we’re talking about the finest in the world. When Messi was here, our opponents were more afraid,” he remarked. “If you throw the ball to Leo, he generally doesn’t lose it,” says the coach. You can tell [Messi] isn’t there because she’s not there. We are aware of this, yet we are unable to alter it.”
On Saturday, the visitors were far from spectacular and were often second best to Athletic. However, Koeman may be encouraged by the manner his team fought back from a 1-0 deficit to get a draw against a strong home side.
