Sneezing is a reflex that occurs when the airways in the nose and throat become inflamed. This can be caused by an infection, allergies, or even cold weather. Learn more about why you sneeze and what you can do to prevent it from happening again.

The why do i wake up every morning with a runny nose and sneezing is one of the most common causes for sneezing. There are many tips to help prevent this problem, including sleeping on your back and using a humidifier.

Some individuals like waking up with a cup of tea, while others enjoy getting up and going for a run. Nobody likes to wake up with uncontrolled sneezing, whether they are a sluggish riser or an early riser.

Sneezing first thing in the morning may cause a runny nose, congested sinuses, and a dry throat, in addition to being an unpleasant awakening.

(And no, sneezing isn’t even 1/8th of an orgasm, so there’s no need to have the sniffles in the morning…)

What causes so many of us to wake up sneezing, and what can we do about it?

What causes sneeze in the morning?

There are a variety of causes for morning sneezing or scratchy throats that are generally recognized.

To begin with, pollen levels are usually greatest in the mornings. If you’re allergic to pollen, this is the time of year when your symptoms are at their worst, resulting in a lot of sneezing.

A disease known as allergic rhinitis is another cause of early morning sneezing.

This disease, also known as hay fever, is caused by our immune system fighting allergens when we are exposed to them, resulting in symptoms such as sneezing, dry eyes, and a runny nose.

Pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds are common causes of allergic rhinitis, but there are many more factors that may be impacting you in your sleep.

Animal dander (the loose skin cells of cats and dogs), dust mites, mould, wood dust, chemicals, and animal dander (the loose skin cells of cats and dogs) may all be contributing to your morning sneezes.

How may allergies be avoided overnight?

Identifying and eliminating potentially irritating allergens is the easiest way to prevent the sniffles in the morning. To accomplish so, try the following:

  • Cleaning your home on a regular basis can help to keep dust, animal dander, and mold at bay.
  • Cleaning your bedding thoroughly.
  • Bathe your dogs on a regular basis.
  • If you suffer from pollen allergies, shut your windows while pollen levels are high.
  • Try hypoallergenic bedding; some natural materials resist dust mites and fungal spores, keeping them out of your mattress rather than trapping them within.

Putting petroleum jelly in your nose at night may be a more proactive measure.

It’s possible that the petroleum jelly will help capture dust mites or pollen so you don’t inhale it.

Apply a thin layer of Vaseline or your favorite petroleum jelly on the rims of your nostrils. Make sure the jelly doesn’t go too far up your nose.

If your allergies continue to bother you, you may want to consider using some medications.

Many of the typical symptoms may be alleviated with over-the-counter antihistamines. Choose a non-drowsy antihistamine, according to NHS recommendations, since they are less likely to make you tired.

If your symptoms prevent you from sleeping, however, sleep-inducing medications such chlorphenamine (including Piriton), hydroxyzine, and promethazine may be best used in the evening.
